BOWEN LEADS MEN'S GOLF AFTER OPENING DAY

ARROYO GRANDE, Calif. --- John Bowen shot rounds of 74 and 73 and is tied for 21st following the first day of the Fidelity National Title Invitational hosted by Cal Poly. As a team Sacramento State shot 301 and 296 and is in 10th place heading into Friday’s final round.

San Diego leads the team standings with a total of 575. Weber State and Saint Mary’s are five strokes back in second place. Individually, Greg Lopez of Cal State Bakersfield lead the tournament after shooting 70-67-137.

Bowen paced a group of tightly-bunched Hornets. Brian Little is two strokes behind Bowen following rounds of 75 and 74. Patrick Miller shot 76-74-150 and Matt Montez scored 76-75-151. Brandon Kingsolver completed the lineup with 76-83-159. The first round saw all five members of the team shoot between 74 and 76. In the afternoon, four of the five scored between 73 and 75.
