STOCKTON, Calif.— Chad Wood shot rounds of 73, 71 and 76 to tie for eighth place at the Pacific Invitational Tuesday afternoon at The Reserve at Spanos Park. Sacramento State finished ninth in the field.The Hornets shot 307-308-307-922 in the two-day tournament. UC Riverside won the event with a total of 863 after shooting 286-290-287. Cal Poly was second while host Pacific, UC Santa Barbara and Long Beach State completed the top five.
Wood was the team’s lone top 10 finisher and was one of two Hornets to fire three rounds in the 70s. Ryan McConnell had the second-best finish by tying for 27th after shooting 80-74-75-229. Matt Montez tied for 51st at 75-84-77-236 and Brandon Kingsolver tied for 53rd at 79-79-79-237.
Cal Poly’s Travis Bertoni was the medalist, finishing 12-under at 69-67-68-204.
