FRESNO, Calif.— Junior Sarah Kuykendall finished in second place to lead the Sacramento State women’s golf team at the Sacramento State Invitational Tuesday afternoon. The two-round tournament was held at the Riverside Golf Club in Fresno, Calif.Kuykendall shot 76 in the second round to finish with a total of 150. Freshman Laura Luethke of Fresno State was the medalist after shooting 74-71-145. Luethke was the lone golfer to shot a subpar round during the tournament. Santa Clara’s Samantha Trask was third at 77-74-151.
Fresno State captured the team title behind a strong second round. The Bulldogs, who entered the round with a two-stroke edge, shot 306 as a team on Tuesday and ended the tournament with a total of 615. Santa Clara was second at 313-315-628 while Sacramento State was third at 311-325-636.
Margaux Sheehan was the Hornets’ second-highest finisher in 10th place. Sheehan shot 76-83-159. Jennifer Parkes was 13th (80-83-163), Anne Luna 14th (81-84-165) and Chante Markley tied for 15th (83-83-166) to complete the Sacramento State lineup.
