FRESNO, Calif.— The Sacramento State women’s golf team opened its 2004-05 season in strong fashion on Monday. The Hornets shot 311 and currently sit in second place after the first round of the Sacramento State Invitational. The two-round tournament is being held at Riverside Golf Club in Fresno, Calif.Sacramento State was led by Sarah Kuykendall who shot 74 and is currently tied for the lead following the first 18 holes. Kuykendall is deadlocked with Fresno State’s freshman sensation Laura Luethke.
The Bulldogs enter the final round holding a two-stroke edge over the Hornets. Fresno State shot 309 as a team while Santa Clara is in third with 313.
Sacramento State’s Margaux Sheehan and Courtney Dimple of Santa Clara are tied for third place after shooting 76. Jennifer Parkes fired a round of 80 and is tied for ninth while Anne Lina shot 81 to tie for 81st and Chante Markely shot 83 and is tied for 13th.
