As a team, the Hornets finished in eighth place out of the 15-team field. Sacramento State shot 301 in the first round, 310 in the second round and 305 on Friday. UC Riverside passed Saint Mary’s during the final round to win the team title. The Highlanders shot 285 in the final round to hold off the Gaels by six strokes. Host Cal Poly was third, Utah Valley State fourth and UC Santa Barbara and UCLA tied for fifth.

UC Riverside’s Brendan Steele was the medalist after shooting 79-63-69-211. Little (73-72-69-214) and Cal Poly''s Travis Bertoni (71-72-71-214) tied for second.

Adam Croxton was the second-best finisher for Sacramento State, tying for 30th (79-77-73-229). Davey Bunfill (71-82-82-235) tied for 49th, John Bowen (78-79-81-238) tied for 55th and Jon Daniel (81-83-86-250) was 70th.

Sacramento State will next compete at the UC Davis Invitational beginning on Monday, March 29, at El Macero GC.
