DAVIS, O'MALLEY LEAD MEN'S GOLF TO FOURTH-PLACE FINISH

SAN JOSE, Calif. --- Kyle Davis finished seventh and Bryan O’Malley placed eighth to lead the Sacramento State men’s golf team to a fourth-place finish at the SCU Invitational on Tuesday. The three-round event was held at the Silver Creek Country Club.

Host Santa Clara maintained its first-day lead to win the team title by seven strokes. The Broncos shot 895 while San Francisco (902), Cal Poly (903), Sacramento State (905) and Saint Mary''s (906) rounded out the top five.

Santa Clara''s Just Ahasic was the tournament medalist. Ahasic shot 74-72-70 to finish at 216. His effort was one stroke better that Justin Madison (SJSU), Chris Heintz (UCLA) and Jong Yoon (SC) who finished in a three-way tie for second.

Davis paced the Hornets with a three-round total of 221. After shooting back-to-back rounds of 75, he shot in the final round. That total was the third-best score of the day. O’Malley was just one stroke behind Davis with rounds of 73-75-74-222. Brian Little (T15, 75-76-75-226), Tom Bingham (T45, 87-78-77-241) and John Bowen (T45, 81-79-81-241) also competed for Sacramento State.

The event marked the final tournament of the fall season for the men''s team.
