SIMI VALLEY, Calif. --- Cal State Stanislaus walked away with the victory at the Bill Cullum Contrywide Intercollegiate with a third round team score of 287 on Tuesday at the Wood Ranch Golf Course in Simi Valley. After posting consecutive team scores of 286 on day one, the Warriors secured victory with the second-best score in round three for a final score of 859, eight strokes ahead of runner-up Utah.
Long Beach State shot an impressive 288 in the third round to finish in third place out of the 21 teams competing. New Mexico State and Cal Poly rounded out the top five.
Sacramento State was consistent throughout the three rounds, shooting 305, 304 and 306 to tie for 18th with Santa Clara.
Billy Moon of Stanislaus took the top individual honors with a three-round score of 209. Moon shot rounds of 71, 69 and 68 on the par 72 course to take first place by three strokes.
Garrett Glegg of Utah was second with a card of 212. Barry Schenk of Weber State and Ryan Thornberry of Stanislaus tied for third place with scores of 213.
Sacramento State was guided by Bryan O''Malley''s 226. O''Malley shot 79-75-72. Kyle Davis (76-75-78-229) and Brian Little (79-77-76-232) also shot three rounds below 80 for the Hornets.
