RANCHO MURIETA, Calif. – Three UC Riverside golfers finished in the top three to lead the Highlanders to the top spot in team play after the first two rounds of competition at the Sacramento State Invitational Monday afternoon. UCR shot 575 in the first day of the tournament at Rancho Murieta Golf Club.Sacramento State is in 12th-place in the 13 team field. The tournament is the first of the spring for the Hornets.
Dan Warbuton of Cal State Bakersfield and Cameron Nelson of UC Riverside lead the 69 player field after shooting two rounds of 71 for a total of 142. Tristan Gardner of Cal Poly (143), Brendan Steele (142) and Dusty Keen (143) of UC Riverside are one stroke off the lead.
Sacramento State finished 42 strokes behind the Highlanders in the team standings. The Hornets were led by Bill Hurwitz who tied for 26th with a total of 151.
