The performances by the two, however, were not enough as the Hornets finished tied for 12th in the 15-team field. Host Cal State Bakersfield shot 288 in the third round to rally for a six-stroke lead over UC Riverside.

Individually, Brendan Steele of UCR claimed medalist honors. Steele finished the three-round tournament tied with Ian Nelson of Fresno State and Mike Mendoza of Cal State Northridge with a total of 211. He won the event in a one-hole playoff.

Sacramento State will conclude its fall season on Nov. 5-6 at the Silver Valley Creek C.C. in San Jose, Calif.
