WOMEN’S GOLF FINISHES IN SEVENTH AT MATADOR CLASSIC

OXNARD, Calif. -- The Sacramento State women’s golf team finished in seventh place at the Matador Fall Classic hosted by Cal State Northridge on Tuesday. The two-round event took place at the River Ridge Golf Club.

Long Beach State cruised to the team title. The 49ers shot 597 which was 18 shots better than second-place Cal State Northridge (615). UC Irvine (623), Portland State (628) and Cal Poly (632) rounded out the top five. The Hornets finished the tournament with a team total of 679.

Individually, Melanie Furuta claimed the medalist honors. Furuta shots rounds of 69 and 72 for a total of 141. Elizabeth Allen was second at 72-73-145.

Audra Mason led Sacramento State with rounds of 80 and 83 to tie for 28th.
