MONTEREY, Calif.— The Sacramento State women’s golf team opened the 2001-02 season with a fifth-place finish at the Golf Mart/Lady Otter Invitational on Tuesday. The two-round event, which was hosted by Cal State Monterey Bay, was held at the Black Horse Golf Course.
The University of British Columbia ran away with the team title, posting a score of 673. Santa Clara was second with 691. The Hornets finished 48 strokes behind BC with a score of 721.
Individually, Cal State Monterey Bay’s Monique Dodson claimed medalist honors. Dodson shot rounds of 79 and 82 to win by three strokes. Mackenzie Francis led Sacramento State with a seventh-place finish. Francis shot 87-82-169.
