SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Sacramento State's Phillip Cuthbertson shot 69 in

the final round of Dusty Destruel Invitational to claim top individual

honors Tuesday afternoon. The Hornets finished the three-round

tournament, which was held at the Silver Creek Valley Country Club, in

sixth place.

Cuthbertson shot 80 in the first round and followed with a second-round

score of 75. The junior, however, became the only player in the

tournament to shoot a round in the 60s when he finished the day with a

69 and a three-round total of 224. San Jose State's Bryant Reyes and

Stanford's Brian Sinay tied for second with a total of 225.

San Jose State claimed the team title by placing four golfers in the top

10. The Spartans ended the tournament with a total of 903, four strokes

ahead of host Santa Clara. Stanford's JV (920) team placed third while

Chico State (932) and Loyola Marymount (933) rounded out the top five of

the 10-team field.
