MEN'S GOLF SELECTED TO PLAY IN OKLAHOMA REGIONAL

SACRAMENTO, Calif. —
The Sacramento State men's golf will make its NCAA Div. I postseason debut in Norman, Okla., it was announced today. The Hornets are seeded 12th among the 14 teams and will compete May 17-19 at the Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club.

Texas, which is the nation's top-ranked team, earned the top seed in the region. Atlantic Coast Conference champion Georiga Tech is seeded second while Washington, Florida State and host Oklahoma round out the  top five. Also among the 14 teams in the field are Saint Mary's, San Diego and Arizona.

Sacramento State earned its first automatic berth into an NCAA Div. I regional after winning the America Sky Tournament by a record 42 strokes last week in North Stonington, Conn.

The Hornets has had a consistent lineup throughout the spring with seniors Cameron and Grant Rappleye and Jake Johnson, junior Ryan Williams and sophomore Jordan WeirCameron Rappleye was the medalist at  the America Sky Championship while Weir finished second.

The NCAA will host six 54-hole regionals with the low five teams from each site advancing to the NCAA Championships. The low individual not from those teams will also qualify for the championships which will take place at The Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif., May 29-June 3.
