RAPPLEYES PACE MEN'S GOLF IN FIRST ROUND AT WINCHESTER

MEADOW VISTA, Calif. — Seniors Cameron and Grant Rappleye each shot under-par rounds to lead the Sacramento State men's golf team in the first round of the Winchester Classic, Friday at Winchester Golf Course. Cameron's round of 70 places him in fourth place while Grant shot 71 and is tied for fifth.
The Hornets totaled 292 and ended the first round at 4-over as a team to rank second. UC Davis holds the lead at 290 while Fresno State (295) and Idaho (296) sit in third and fourth, respectively.
Along with the Rappleyes, Sacramento State also counted a 75 from Jordan Weir and a 76 from Ryan Williams. Weir is tied for 17th while Williams is tied for 22nd.
Freshman Owen Taylor, who was competing as an individual, shot 73 to place him in a tie for ninth.
Nevada's Kevin Lucas holds a one-stroke lead in the individual standings following a round of 68.
The tournament continues on Saturday with the second round at 8 a.m.
