CAMERON RAPPLEYE TIED FOR THIRD AFTER FIRST DAY OF UCSB TOURNAMENT

Cameron Rappleye was 1-under in each of his first two rounds at the OGIO UC Santa Barbara Invitational.
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. — Cameron Rappleye posted two rounds of 1-under 71 to lead the Sacramento State men's golf team during the first round of the OGIO UC Santa Barbara Invitational on Monday at Sandpiper.
Rappleye is tied for third place heading into Tuesday's final round. His 36-hole total of 142 places him six strokes behind Saint Mary's Anders Engell in the individual standings. Xander Schauffele of Long Beach State is second at 140.
As a team, the Hornets are in seventh place with a two-round total of 591. Sacramento State shot 297 in the morning round and followed with 294 in the second round.
Rappleye had the best score on the team in both rounds. His twin brother, Grant, and Ryan Williams are tied for 25th place. Grant Rappleye shot 75 in the morning before carding a 73. Williams had a pair of 74s.
Senior Jake Johnson enters the final round tied for 52nd place after shooting 77-76-153. Jordan Weir completes the lineup at 81-77-158 to tie for 62nd.
Saint Mary's holds a five shot lead over Long Beach State in the team standings. The Gaels shot 564, including 280 (8-under) in the second round.
