Christopher Hall was elevated to head men's
golf coach at Sacramento State during the spring of 2011. Hall had
been an assistant with the team since being hired by the Hornets in
August of 2010.
Hall made an immediate impact as head coach, guiding the Hornets
to a second place finish at the America Sky Championships during
his first season. The following year, Sacramento State won by an
amazing 42 strokes and earned the school's first NCAA Div. I
Regional apearance.
In 2012, Hall coached Ryan Williams and Jordan Weir to the NCAA
Pullman Regional where both qualified as individuals. Williams set
the school single-season scoring record (72.69) during the year and
was named the school's Male Student-Athlete of the Year as well as
the American Sky Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Weir was the medalist
at the America Sky Tournament.
That same season, Hall organized the Sacramento State Invitational
at Valley Hi Country Club. The tournament brought in 14 teams from
around the nation for the largest Div. I field in school
history.
"The Invitational is a great event to get the community involved
and will be a great avenue for our alumni to stay connected to the
program," Hall said.
Several former Sacramento State golfers who were coached by Hall
are currently playing on mini tours including Wililams, Grant and
Cameron Rappleye and Jake Johnson.
Prior to coming to Sacramento State, Hall served as the volunteer
assistant coach at Fresno State for the past two seasons. While
with the Bulldogs, he helped guide Hali Coppin to an individual
Western Athletic Conference title and also an appearance at the
Women's U.S. Open Qualifier.
Along with his coaching duties, Hall also spent time with members
of the men's and women's golf team and swimming and diving as a
sport psychologist.
A native of Murphys, Calif., Hall played collegiately at Butte and
Cabrillo junior colleges before transferring to Chico State. He
earned his bachelor's degree in kinesiology from Chico State and
later added a master's in sports psychology from Fresno State.
He and his wife, Shannon, reside in Sacramento with their son
Wyatt.
