TRIO OF MEN'S GOLFERS NAMED ALL-BIG SKY; CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP UP NEXT

OGDEN, Utah — Three members of the Sacramento State men's golf team earned all-Big Sky Conference honors, it was announced today. Jeff Carr was named to the second team while Landon Azevedo and Ethan Davidson garnered honorable mention.

Carr was the only member of the team to play in each event this season. The sophomore averaged 73.79 in 29 rounds and had a low of 68 in the first round of the Redhawks Invitational in April. Overall, he had 12 rounds of 72 or better and his best finish came at the Sacramento State Invitational where he tied for 17th place.

Azevedo owned a team best 73.71 scoring average in 17 rounds. He also won all three of his matches at the Cal Poly Match Play event during the spring. His low of 69 came in the opening round of the Pacific Invitational in October where he also set his 54-hole best of 214. The junior finished the season with six rounds of par or better.

Davidson had a strong freshman campaign where he averaged 74.62 while playing in nine of the team's 11 tournaments. He shot 69 in the first round of the Sacramento State Invitational for his season low. His best 54-hole score came at the Nick Watney Invitational and the Sacramento State Invitational where he totaled 217.

Sacramento State will next compete at the Big Sky Championship on April 26-28 at Boulder Creek Golf Course in Boulder City, Nev. The Hornets enter the tournament seeded second among the seven teams. Sacramento State will be paired with Northern Colorado and Idaho in the first round beginning at 8:30 a.m. PT. The winner of the Big Sky Championship will earn an automatic berth to an NCAA regional.
