OGDEN, Utah — Joe Fowler was named the Big Sky Men's Golfer of the Week after leading Sacramento State at the Ka'anapali Collegiate Classic in Hawaii over the weekend. The honor is the first for Fowler in his career.
The freshman started the event with a career-best of 65 which left him 6-under par. That score is tied for the fourth best in school history. He then shot 76 in the second round before finishing the tournament with a 1-under par round of 70. Overall, Fowler posted a career best 54-hole score of 211.
The tournament was the final event for the Hornets during the fall portion of the schedule. Fowler played in three events and averaged a team-best 72.33 in nine rounds. Sacramento State will start the spring at The Farms Invitational in Rancho Santa Fe, Calif., on Feb. 11-12.
