  • CARR SETS CONFERENCE RECORD IN FINAL ROUND OF BIG SKY CHAMPIONSHIP

    Jeff Carr set the Big Sky Championship single-round record and tied the second-best all-time score by a Sacramento State golfer after shooting 63 in the final round of the Big Sky Championship. The score lifted Carr into a tie for second place overall and left him just one stroke off the medalist.

    The Sacramento State men’s golf team was 1-under par during the second round of the Big Sky Championship and finds itself in the middle of a crowded leaderboard with one round remaining. The Hornets are in fifth place at even par but are just one stroke out of third place and four from second. Northern Colorado was 11-under par on Saturday and owns an 11-stroke lead through two rounds.

    Three members of the Sacramento State men’s golf team earned all-Big Sky Conference honors, it was announced today. Jeff Carr was named to the second team while Landon Azevedo and Ethan Davidson garnered honorable mention.

    Led by an even par round of 72 from Jeff Carr, the Sacramento State men’s golf team concluded the El Macero Classic in 14th place after shooting 305 in the final round on Sunday. The Hornets totaled 315-298-305-918 over the three-day event.

    For the second consecutive day, the Sacramento State men’s golf team was led by a freshman at the El Macero Classic. On Saturday, Riley Bell led the team with a 2-under par round of 70. Bell’s performance helped the Hornets improved their score by 17 strokes from the first round.

    Freshman Ethan Davidson led the Sacramento State men’s golf team in the first round of the El Macero Classic on Friday. Davidson shot 76 and is tied for 36th place while the Hornets finished with a total of 315 and are in 14th place.

    After going 3-0 and leading the Sacramento State men’s golf team to a third-place finish at the Cal Poly Match Play, Landon Azevedo was named the Big Sky Men’s Golfer of the Week, it was announced today. The honor is the second for Azevedo during his career.

    The Sacramento State men’s golf team finished in third place at the Cal Poly Match Play following a 3-2 win over Utah State on Tuesday at Cypress Ridge Golf Course. The team earned wins from Josh Diaz, Joe Fowler and Landon Azevedo during the final day and concluded the tournament with a 2-1 overall record.
  • MEN'S GOLF SPLITS PAIR AT CAL POLY MATCH PLAY ON MONDAY

    The Sacramento State men’s golf team split a pair of matches during the first day of Cal Poly Match Play tournament on Monday at Cypress Ridge Golf Club. The Hornets started the day with a 3.5-1.5 win over host Cal Poly before falling to top-seeded UC Santa Barbara by the same score in the semifinals. The team will take on UC Irvine in the third-place match on Tuesday.

    Josh Diaz and Jeff Carr each shot a 1-over par round of 72 during the third round of the GCU Invitational on Saturday. The scores were were the lowest posted by a Sacramento State men’s golfer in the three-round event.

    The Sacramento State men's golf team opened play at the GCU Invitational on Saturday at Grand Canyon. The tournament was halted by darkness with two groups left on the course and will continue withe conclusion of the second round and the final round on Saturday.

    Jeff Carr shot 72 for the low score among the Sacramento State men’s golf team in the first round and Riley Bell paced the team with a 3-under par 68 in the second round of the Olympic Club Intercollegiate on Monday. The pair are tied for the team lead through two rounds with a total of 147.

    The Sacramento State men’s golf team wrapped up play at the Olympic Club Intercollegiate on Tuesday. The Hornets shot 301 and finished the event in 12th place. Sacramento State was led by freshman Joe Fowler who shot a 2-over par round of 73 marking the third different individual leader in as many rounds for the team.

    A rare break in rain allowed for ideal playing conditions during the first day of the 7th annual Sacramento State Invitational, but in the end, Mother Nature prevailed again as the second round was halted by darkness. Teams will complete their remaining holes before starting the third round on Tuesday.

    The seventh annual Sacramento State Invitational returns to Valley Hi Country Club on Mon.-Tue., March 4-5. The first day is scheduled for 36 holes with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. The tournament will conclude on Tuesday with a single round which will also have a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.

    After wrapping up the second round, the Sacramento State men’s golf team closed The Farms Invitational with its lowest team score of the tournament on Tuesday. The Hornets shot 304 during the third round and concluded the event in sixth place with a total of 306-308-304-918.

    The Sacramento State men’s golf team began the spring portion of its 2018-19 season at The Farms Invitational on Monday at The Farms Golf Club. The Hornets shot 306 during the first round to sit in fifth place. The second round was suspended by darkness with Sacramento State tied for sixth place at 16-over.

    The Sacramento State men’s golf team was picked to finish second at the Big Sky Conference Championships, it was announced today. The preseason poll was voted on by league head coaches, who are not allowed to vote for their own team.

    Joe Fowler was named the Big Sky Men’s Golfer of the Week after leading Sacramento State at the Ka’anapali Collegiate Classic in Hawaii over the weekend. The honor is the first for Fowler in his career.

The Hornets were 4-over par as a team during the third round and finished in eighth place with a total of 292-290-292-874.
