The Sacramento State men’s golf team wrapped up its 2017-18 season on Sunday following the third round of the Big Sky Championship at Boulder Creek Golf Club. The Hornets finished in fifth place after shooting 297-294-296-887 during the tournament.
Ash Patel and Jeff Carr each shot 72 to lead Sacramento State in the second round of the Big Sky Conference Men’s Golf Championship on Saturday at Boulder Creek Golf Club. The Hornets remained in fourth place after shooting 294 in the second round.
Senior Zach Liberatore’s round of 73 led the Sacramento State men’s golf team during the first round of the Big Sky Conference Championship on Friday at Boulder Creek Golf Club. All five members of the team finished with scores ranging between 72 and 76 and the Hornets are in fourth place after the first day.
Wonje Choi was named to the Big Sky Conference men’s golf second team and Devyn Fitchhorn and Eric Olsem each were honorable mention, it was announced today.
The Sacramento State men’s golf team completed its final tournament before the Big Sky Championships on Sunday with the final round of the El Macero Classic. The team battled high winds throughout the morning and was led by a 75 from Wonje Choi. The Hornets finished the tournament in 11th place with a three round total of 322-313-315-950.
Senior Zach Liberatore shot 75 to guide the Sacramento State men’s golf team in the second round of the El Macero Classic on Saturday. The score helped the Hornets move up one spot in the team standings as Sacramento State was nine shots better in the second round compared to the prior day.
Ash Patel’s 4-over par round of 76 led the Sacramento State men’s golf team in the first round of the El Macero Classic on Friday. The tournament will continue with the second and third round on Saturday and Sunday. Sacramento State shot 322 during the round and is tied for 12th place after the first day.
Zach Liberatore won on the 19th hole to give the Sacramento State men’s golf team a 3-2 win over Menlo on Tuesday in a rain-soaked McKenzie Match Play tournament at Pasatiempo Golf Course. The Hornets also recorded wins from Jeff Carr and Eric Olsem in the win.
The Sacramento State men’s golf team opened play at the MacKenzie Match Play on Monday with a pair of matchups. The Hornets fell 5-0 to Wyoming in the first round and trailed Cal State Monterey Bay in the second round before play was stopped due to rain at Pasatiempo Golf Club.
Led by a 1-under par round of 71 from Wonje Choi, the Sacramento State men’s golf team produced its best score of the Sacramento State Invitational, shooting 291 during the third round on Tuesday at Valley Hi Country Club. The Hornets finished the tournament in eighth place with a total of 304-295-291-890.
Golfers battled unseasonably cool temperatures in the morning but as things heated up scores began to fall in the afternoon during the first day of the Sacramento State Invitational on Monday at Valley Hi Country Club. Sacramento State is in ninth place in the 12-team event heading into Wednesday’s final round.
The sixth annual Sacramento State Invitational returns to Valley Hi Country Club on Mon.-Tue., March 5-6. The first day is scheduled for 36 holes with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. The tournament will conclude on Tuesday with a single round which will also have a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.
Jeff Carr closed out the second round with a career best 71 and matched that score during the third round of the National Invitational Tournament on Monday at OMNI Tucson National to lead the Sacramento State men’s golf team.
The Sacramento State men’s golf team nearly completed the first two rounds of the National Invitational Tournament on Monday at OMNI Tucson National Golf Course. However, darkness set in on Sunday evening leaving the team with two holes to play on Monday before the third round begins.
Sophomore Eric Olsem capped his second-best 54-hole tournament at Sacramento State by shooting a team-leading 74 during the final round of The Farms Invitational on Tuesday. Olsem finished the tournament at 75-73-74-222 and was 6-over par in the three rounds.

Choi was the most consistent golfer for the Hornets, ranking second on the team in both rounds with a total of 72-76-148. The Sacramento State men’s golf team recorded its best round of the Waves Challenge but remained in 15th place after play on Tuesday. The Hornets shot 344-335-333-1012 during the three rounds.
The Sacramento State men’s golf team played its first rounds of the spring season on Monday at the Waves Challenge at Saticoy Country Club. The Hornets were led by Devyn Fitchhorn and are in 15th place when play was halted due to darkness. The second round will conclude on Tuesday morning and will be immediately followed by the final round.
Sacramento Sate head men’s golf coach Kamden Brakel announced the signing of Riley Bell to a National Letter of Intent, it was announced today. Bell will enroll at Sacramento State as a freshman in the fall of 2018.
Sacramento State sophomore Devyn Fitchhorn was named the Big Sky Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week, it was announced today. The honor is the first for Fitchhorn during his career and the second for Sacramento State this fall.

The Sacramento State golf team shot 303 during the second round of the Ka’anapali Collegiate Classic on Saturday at the Ka’anapali Golf Club. The Hornets were led by a 1-over par 72 from Eric Olsem and had Ash Patel match that score while competing as an individual.
Devyn Fitchhorn and Ash Patel each shot a 1-under par round of 70 during the first round of the Ka’anapali Collegiate Classic on Friday at Ka’anapali Golf Club. Fitchhorn’s efforts were the best on the team and helped the Hornets tie for 16th place during the first of three rounds. Patel was competing as an individual and is tied for 45th in the field.
A career best round of 69 by Devyn Fitchhorn highlighted the third round of the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational for the Sacramento State men’s golf team on Saturday at The Reserve at Spanos Park. The Hornets finished the tournament tied for 17th place with a three-round total of 300-290-296-886.
Zach Liberatore shot 71 and Eric Olsem added an even par round of 72 to help the Sacramento State men’s golf team move up three spots in the standings during the second round of the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational on Friday at the The Reserve at Spanos Park. That performance moved the team into 16th place heading into the final round and was 10 strokes better than its first round score.
