MEN'S GOLF HOSTS SACRAMENTO STATE INVITATIONAL BEGINNING MONDAY

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The fifth annual Sacramento State Invitational returns to Valley Hi Country Club on Mon.-Tue., March 6-7. The first day is scheduled for 36 holes with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. The tournament will conclude on Tuesday with a single round which will start at 7:30 off holes 1 and 10.

The 2017 tournament will feature 14 teams and five individuals which hail from California, Utah, North Dakota, Nebraska, Arizona, Tennessee and British Columbia. UC Santa Barbara is the highest ranked team in the field followed by Sacramento State.

The Hornets have won the past two team and individual titles. Last season, shot 16-under par during the final round to win the event by 11 strokes. Individually, Aaron Beverly set his career best and also established the lowest score from the black tees at Valley Hi after shooting 64 (8-under par). He finished as the medalist with rounds of 74-69-64-207 which placed him fourth in school history..

The Sacramento State lineup will consist of Beverly, Robert Parden. Wonje Choi, Zach Liberatore and Connor Day. The team will also have Cody Bates, Devyn Fitchhorn and Landon Azevedo compete as individuals.

The tournament is open to the public and is free.
