RANCHO SANTE FE, Calif. — Led by a round of 72 from Aaron Beverly and a 83 from Robert Parden the Sacramento State men's golf team finished in seventh place at the PRO Compression Invitational on Tuesday at The Farms Golf Club.

Beverly completed the tournament in second place after shooting 66-70-72-208. His 54-hole total is tied for the sixth best in school history and marks the sixth time he's shot 208 or better during his career. The senior has now finished among the top five six times since the start of last season. On Tuesday, Beverly began with a bogey on the par-4 11th but was back to even par following a birdie on the par-3 14th. He was 2-over at the midway point of his round as he bogeyed Nos. 16 and 17 and had three pars. Beverly stormed back with birdies on the par-3 fifth, the par-4 eighth and par-5 ninth to drop to 1-under for the first time during the round. However, he ended the day with a bogey on the par-4 10th.

Robert Parden ranked second on the team and tied for 18th overall at 76-73-73-222. Parden was steady in the early going of his third round with pars on his first seven holes (Nos. 12-18). A birdie on the par-4 first dropped him to 1-under and, following three more pars, he birdied the par-3 fifth. Consecutive bogeys on Nos. 6 and 7 took him back to even and a bogey on No. 10 closed his round at 1-over par.

Landon Azevedo and Zach Liberatore each shot 77 to complete the team score during the third round. Azevedo battle back from a double bogey and bogey over his first three holes to play his final 15 holes at 2-over par. He had birdies on the par-3 second and par-4 13th during the round. Overall, he shot 80-78-77-235 to tied for 52nd place.

Liberatore had an up-and-down round which featured just four pars. He started with a birdie on No. 14 but was quickly 3-over after a stretch of bogey-double bogey-bogey on the next three holes. A birdie on the par-5 18th was followed by two more bogeys. He repeated that sequence on the next three holes before carding his first par of the day. After moving to 7-over, Liberatore played his final five holes at 2-under with three pars and birdies on Nos. 10 and 11. He was 60th in the tournament at 81-84-77-242.

Cody Bates shot 75-74-84-233 to finish in 47th place. Bates' final round was comprised of a birdie on the par-4 11th, eight bogeys and a quintuple bogey on his final hole (the par-5 12th).

UC Santa Barbara was able to capitalize on its lead following the first day to win the team title. The Gauchos led by 18 strokes heading into the final round and finished nine strokes ahead of Wichita State. UCSB finished 12-under par as team with a total of 852. The Shockers were the only other team under par at 861 (3-under) while Cal Poly (876), UC Irvine (882) and Seattle (888) completed the top five.

Yannick Emmert of WIchita State was the medalist after shooting 63-72-68-203. Emmert was one of two golfers to break 70 in the final round.

Sacramento State will next compete at the Sacramento State Invitational on March 6-7 at Valley Hi Country Club.
