SAN ANTONIO, Texas — Senior Ryan Williams shot an even-par 72 to tie for sixth place at the Lone Star Invitational on Tuesday at the Hill Country Resort Golf Club.

The Hornets tied for ninth place in the 15-team field with rounds of 295-299-311-905. Sacramento State had the minimum of four golfers competing during the final round and was one of several teams suffering from food poisoning during the day.

Williams was 3-over through his first two holes, opening the day with a double-bogey on the par-4 5th and a bogey on the par-4 6th. From that point, he strung together seven straight pars before birdying the par-4 14th. Two more pars were followed by a birdie on the par-5 5th and a bogey on the par-4 18th. Williams then birdied the par-4 1st and the par-5 4th with pars on Nos. 2 and 3 to end his round. His 54-hole total of 215 (70-74-72) is the third-lowest of his career.

Sophomore Owen Taylor shot 76 on Tuesday and finished the tournament tied for 45th place at 78-75-76-229. Taylor began his round with a double-bogey on the par-4 7th and eventually stood at 5-over through his first seven holes. He played his final 11 holes at 1-under with birdies on the par-5 17th and the par-4 6th along with bogey on 18.

Eric Taylor tied for 60th with a three-round total of 81-72-81-234. On Tuesday, his round consisted of one birdie, 10 pars, five bogeys and two double-bogeys.

Jordan Weir ended the tournament with a round of 82 and tied for 70th place. Weir had a pair of birdies and 10 pars to go along with two bogeys, two double-bogeys and two triple-bogeys.

Jordan Swanson had to withdraw from the tournament due to food poisoning. Swanson had carded rounds of 72 and 78.

Houston rallied to win the team title behind a blistering third round of 275. The Cougars totaled 866 and finished four strokes ahead of North Texas. Rodolfo Cazaubon of North Texas was the medalist with a 54-hole total of 212.

Sacramento State will next compete at the Bill Cullum Invitational in Simi Valley on Oct. 22-23.
