GAME PREVIEW
• Fresh off concluding a three-game road trip, Sacramento State (4-2) will finally return home for the first time since an 87-82 overtime win vs. Cal State Fullerton on Nov. 24.
• The Hornets will play two home games over a three-day span, and that begins on Tuesday with a matchup against Holy Names (2-6) at 7:05 p.m.
• Sacramento State will also play Thursday against Westcliff in a game that was recently added to the schedule to compensate for the loss of the Cal Poly game. That game was cancelled on Nov. 16 due to poor Sacramento air quality related to the Camp Fire.
• The Hornets went 1-2 on the road trip, including an 88-68 win at Cal State Northridge on Dec. 1, and most recently, a 76-67 loss at Portland on Saturday.
• The team's 4-2 record is its best mark after six games since the 2015-16 squad was 5-1. Should the Hornets win on Tuesday, the team's 5-2 record would match its best seven-game start in 33 years.
• Five other Hornet squads over that 33-year span also started 5-2: 2015-16, 2012-13, 1999-00, 1988-89 and 1987-88. The 1985-86 team began the year with a 6-1 record.
• Sacramento State is 2-0 at home this season, and 60-25 inside the Nest dating back to the 2012-13 season.
• The Hornets are already three wins shy of the team's output from all of last year during an injury-riddled 7-25 season. Those seven wins put an end to a run that saw the program record at least 13 victories in five consecutive seasons.
• Holy Names is an NCAA Div. II team from Oakland, and the program is members of the PacWest Conference.
• Sacramento State and Holy Names have played just once, a 96-56 Hornet win inside the Nest on Nov. 20, 2015. In that game, five different Hornets had at least 13 points.
• The Hornets have won 35 straight games vs. non-Div. I teams dating back to 1999. Since joining the Div. I ranks in 1991, the Hornets are 36-2 against non-Div. I teams.
• Tuesday will mark the first of just three non-conference games remaining on Sacramento State's schedule. The Hornets will also play at Washington on Dec. 21 prior to opening Big Sky Conference play at home vs. Northern Colorado on Dec. 29.
• Holy Names will enter Tuesday's game with a 2-6 overall record, including a 1-3 mark on the road. The Hawks are coming off a 71-58 home win over Dominican on Dec. 9.
• Holy Names has used eight different starters this season, and is averaging 61.4 points per game on .392 shooting from the field and .253 from the 3-point line. Sacramento State is first in the Big Sky in scoring defense, allowing 68.0 points per game.
