SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- The Sacramento State men's basketball program has signed Antelope Valley Junior College guard/forward Osi Nwachukwu, who is the fourth signee for the 2018-19 season. He will enroll at the University as a junior this summer.

Nwachukwu joins San Diego City College forward Ethan Esposito, Clark High School guard/forward James Bridges and Damien High School guard Elijah McCullough as the four Hornets to sign with the program. Esposito signed with the team on Thursday, Bridges signed a few weeks ago, and McCullough was inked during the early signing period.

Nwachukwu, a 6-foot-5, 195-pounder from Oakland, Calif., recently completed his second season at Antelope Valley. A first team all-conference selection this past season as a sophomore, he averaged 14.9 points, 7.1 rebounds, 1.9 steals and 0.8 blocked shots per game. He shot .534 (181-339) from the field, .409 (27-66) from the 3-point line and .733 (74-101) from the free throw line.

He played in 31 of the team's 32 games, getting the start on 30 occasions. He averaged 26.6 minutes, and scored in double figures in 23 of the final 26 games of the season. That includes a career-high 30 points vs. San Diego Miramar.

As a freshman in 2016-17, Nwachukwu played in all 33 games for a team that finished 22-11, and reached the quarterfinal round of the state championship. That season, he averaged 7.9 points, 4.8 rebounds, 1.2 steals and 18.4 minutes per game while shooting .591 (104-176) from the field and .691 (47-68) from the free throw line.

"Osi is a very athletic player who is extremely active on the floor and plays with great energy," Sacramento State head coach Brian Katz said. "In addition, he is a slasher and a ball winner, and he will put points on the board. He is also an excellent defender, and takes great pride in his work on the defensive end. He has good range, and can stretch the defense with his 3-point shooting."

Prior to Antelope Valley, Nwachukwu played one season for DME Sports Academy Prep program in Daytona Beach, Fla., where he averaged 28.1 points and 6.7 rebounds per game.

A 2015 graduate of San Leandro High School, he played four years of basketball for the Pirates. Nwachukwu was a two-time all-conference selection, earning first team honors as a senior and second team accolades as a junior.
