• Sacramento State (1-6) will end a stretch of seven consecutive days without a game when the Hornets travel to Moraga to take on perennial basketball power Saint Mary's (6-2) on Monday evening. Tip-off at McKeon Pavilion is set for 7:05 p.m.
• By the time the two teams tip on Monday, the seven-day layoff will be the longest of the season for Sacramento State, although the team will take nine days off after playing at Boise State on Dec. 9.
• Sacramento State, which is playing without what likely would have been its starting back court (Marcus Graves, Jiday Ugbaja) due to injuries, has show signs of improvement despite its tough start to the season.
• Like Saint Mary's, the Hornets also played in the Wooden Legacy in Fullerton during Thanksgiving break. Sacramento State went 0-3 at the tournament, but could have just as easily defeated both host Cal State Fullerton (68-63) and Saint Joseph's (74-69) before losing both games by five points. Sacramento State had a 12-point second half lead against Saint Joseph's and trailed by one point against Fullerton with four minutes left.
• Still, the Hornets have lost five straight, which is the team's longest losing streak in six years. The 2011-12 squad lost nine consecutive games.
• Last year's Hornet team also started 1-6 before finishing 13-18 and 9-9 in the Big Sky.
• Monday will mark the finale of a ruthless stretch of eight games to start the year. Of those eight games, only one came at home, and the Hornets have played Colorado State, San Francisco, UC Davis, San Diego State, Cal State Fullerton and Saint Joseph's.
• The schedule doesn't get any easier as Saint Mary's had been ranked 21st in the nation earlier this year, but recently slipped out and is currently receiving votes in the polls.
• The Gaels have reached either the NCAA Tournament or NIT 10 consecutive years. That includes NCAA trips in 2008, 2010, 2012, 2013 and a second round appearance last year.
• The Gaels snapped a two-game losing streak with a 74-63 victory at Cal on Saturday.
• Sacramento State is 6-29 all-time against Saint Mary's, including a 1-18 mark when playing the Gaels in Moraga. The Hornets' lone road win at Saint Mary's came in an 84-75 victory on Dec. 6, 1975. Saint Mary's has won nine straight home games against the Hornets.
• Sacramento State has not played Saint Mary's since a 73-38 loss at McKeon Pavilion on Dec, 17, 2004.
• Overall, Saint Mary's has won three straight in the series, with the Hornets' last win coming via 75-61 victory on Nov. 22, 2000, in Sacramento State's first season back at the Nest after playing four years at Memorial Auditorium in downtown Sacramento.

• Monday's game will be streamed live and free on the WCC Network (TheW.tv).
