Big Sky Conference Standings
After an 82-71 loss at North Dakota on Thursday night, Sacramento State (6-10, 2-5) returns to action Saturday evening at Northern Colorado (12-4, 6-1)…tip-off at the Butler-Hancock Pavilion is set for 6:05 p.m. PST…Saturday will conclude a stretch that will see the Hornets play six of their first eight conference games on the road…Southern Utah is the only other team in the Big Sky that has to begin the year with six of its first eight league games on the road…Sacramento State is 2-8 on the road this season, and 1-4 against Big Sky teams…the Hornets' lone Big Sky road victory came when the team beat Southern Utah, 77-49, which set the Div. I-era record for most lopsided road win (28 points)…after Saturday, the brutality of the Hornets' early season schedule will turn to loveliness as Sacramento State will play eight of its final 12 league games at home…that includes a season-long four-game homestand beginning next Thursday…as a whole, the Big Sky has struggled on the road as the league's 11 teams have combined to go 9-29 in conference road games…the Hornets have scored at least 70 points in four of their last six games after doing so just three times during the first 10 games of the year…either Dylan Garrity, Mikh McKinney or Zach Mills has led the team in scoring in nine straight games…overall, the Hornets have split their last four games, and six of the team's last seven games have been decided by at least 10 points…Northern Colorado is currently tied atop the conference standings with Weber State (6-1)…however, the Bears have enjoyed the luxury of playing six of their first eight league games at home by the time Saturday night's game concludes…the Bears are 10-0 at home this season, and 5-0 against the league…each of the five league wins have come by at least seven points…the Hornets are 4-10 all-time against the Bears, including 2-5 when playing in Greeley…overall, Sacramento State has won two of the last three meetings between the two teams…like every game the rest of the season, Saturday's contest can be seen live and free on WatchBigSky.com…the game can also be heard over the airwaves on KTKZ 1380 AM The Answer and on the internet at hornetsports.com with 17th year play-by-play announcer Steve McElroy calling the game…live stats are at uncbears.com.
