Sacramento State (4-8, 0-3) will play the fourth and final leg of its four-game road trip on Saturday evening at Southern Utah (1-10, 0-2)…tip-off at Centrum Arena is set for 6:05 p.m. PST…the Hornets are the only team in the 11-member Big Sky Conference to open league play with four straight road games…in 16 conference games played by Big Sky teams thus far, the road team is 2-14…Sacramento State is currently riding its longest losing streak (three games) since the team dropped four straight towards the end of the 2011-12 season…the Hornets are 1-7 on the road, and have dropped five straight since their lone road win at rival UC Davis on Nov. 26…Sacramento State has lost each of its first three conference games by at least 10 points, including a 75-65 defeat at Northern Arizona on Thursday…after the four-game road trip ends on Saturday, Sacramento State will play six of its next eight games at home…the Hornets are looking to improve their conference record for the fifth straight year (1-15 in 2008-09, 3-13 in 2009-10, 4-12 in 2010-11, 5-11 in 2011-12, and 8-12 last season)…Southern Utah was idle Thursday, and carries a 10-game losing streak into Saturday night's game…the Thunderbirds defeated NAIA opponent Arizona Christian in the season opener, but have not won since…however, the Thunderbirds have played just three games at home all season, and are one of two teams (Sacramento State being the other) in the Big Sky yet to play a conference home game…the T-Birds are last in the nation in field goal percentage (.367) and second to last in points (56.4 ppg)…Southern Utah is 14-7 all-time against Sacramento State, including a 79-67 win the last time the teams met, last year, in Cedar City…the Thunderbirds own an 8-2 edge over the Hornets when playing in Cedar City…the two teams, which competed against each other in the American West Conference from 1994 to 1996, split two games last year, with the Hornets taking a 64-59 home victory…like every game the rest of the season, Saturday's contest can be seen live and free on www.WatchBigSky.com…the game can also be heard over the airwaves on KTKZ 1380 AM The Answer and on the internet at www.hornetsports.com with 17th year play-by-play announcer Steve McElroy calling the game...live stats for the game are available via www.suutbirds.com.
