After what will amount to be a season-long 12-day break, Sacramento State (6-4, 1-1) finally returns to the court on Thursday, Jan. 3, when the team travels to Flagstaff, Ariz., to take on Northern Arizona (4-8, 1-1)…tip-off at the Walkup Skydome is set for 5:35 p.m. PST…the game will be televised live on both Fox Sports Arizona, and Fox College Sports Pacific…the Hornets split their first two games of the conference season with a 62-57 home win over Montana State on Dec. 19, and a heartbreaking 61-60 home loss to Montana on Dec. 21…in that loss to Montana, the Hornets tied the score with seven seconds remaining in regulation, only to see a blocking foul called and subsequent Montana free throw with 2.5 seconds remaining provide the final outcome…prior to the Montana State game on Dec. 19, the Hornets had gone 10 days without a game…so, by the time the game at NAU begins on Thursday, Sacramento State will have played just two games over a stretch of 25 days…the Hornets' 6-4 record is the program's best after 10 games since the 2005-06 squad had the same record…Sacramento State is looking to win its first Big Sky road game of the season since a 107-106 victory at Idaho State on Jan. 12, 2006…the Hornets are 2-2 on the road this year, and three of those games have been decided by five points or less…should Sacramento State win on Thursday, it would be the team's first 3-2 start on the road during the program's Div. I era (1991-pres.), and the first since the 1987-88 season…Northern Arizona, which is coming off an 84-54 loss at BYU on Dec. 27, owns a 31-10 all-time series record against Sacramento State…the Lumberjacks had won 14 straight games in the series until the Hornets unleashed a 77-43 home win over NAU on Jan. 28, 2012…the 34-point margin of victory was Sacramento State's largest-ever against a Div.
