MEN'S HOOPS BEGINS SEASON-LONG FOUR-GAME ROAD TRIP THURSDAY AT PORTLAND STATE

After its 64-59 home win over Southern Utah on Monday night, Sacramento State (7-5, 2-2) will begin a season-long four-game road trip on Thursday when the team travels north to take on Portland State (3-8, 1-3)…tip-off at the Stott Center is 7:35 p.m…Thursday's game marks the second leg of a stretch that will see the Hornets play three times in six days, including a game on Saturday night at Eastern Washington…Sacramento State's 7-5 overall record is the team's best mark after 12 games since the 2005-06 squad began the year at 8-4…the Hornets' 2-2 conference record is their best after four games since the 2006-07 squad had the same record…in the team's win over Southern Utah on Monday, the Hornets attempted a program-record 55 free throws, surpassing the previous high-water mark (51) which had stood for 57 years…the Hornets began the year by winning their first two road games (including a victory over the Pac-12's Utah), but have lost three straight away from home since…all four of Sacramento State's conference games thus far have been decided by seven points or less, including three of those by five points or less…the Hornets have posted their five lowest scoring outputs of the season over the last five games, averaging 58.6 points during that span…the Hornets are 2-0 when wearing their gold uniforms this season…Portland State has dropped three straight games, but each of those losses came by seven points or less…that includes an overtime home loss to Weber State and a seven-point loss at Montana…Weber State and Montana are the lone teams in the conference with perfect 4-0 league marks…Portland State is 24-10 all-time against Sacramento State, including wins in 10 of the last 11 meetings between the two teams…the Hornets are 1-16 when playing the Vikings in Portland (including six straight losses) with the lone win coming on Feb. 4, 2006…like every Big Sky game, Monday's contest can be seen live and free on Big Sky TV…the game can also be heard on the internet at www.hornetsports.com with 16th year play-by-play announcer Steve McElroy calling all the action...live stats for the game are available via www.goviks.com.
