MEN'S HOOPS LOOKS FOR 3-0 START ON FRIDAY AT UTAH

Fresh off an 85-67 home victory over CSU Bakersfield on Wednesday, Sacramento State (2-0) will travel to Salt Lake City for a game at Utah (1-0) on Friday…game time at the Huntsman Center is 6:05 p.m. PST…the Hornets have won both their games thus far by at least 18 points, including a 26.0 point margin of victory…Sacramento State will attempt to start the season with a 3-0 record for the first time since the 1999-00 season…the Hornets are averaging 90.5 points per game thus far…prior to this season, the team had never scored more than 90 points in any game during the Brian Katz era (2008-pres)…Sacramento State currently has five players averaging double figures in points, comprised of Mikh McKinney (18.0), John Dickson (16.5), Dylan Garrity (13.5), Jackson Carbajal (10.5) and Konner Veteto (10.5)…the Hornets will face a Utah team that defeated Willamette, 104-47, in its season opener last Friday…that marked the first time the Utes hit the 100-point mark since beating Cal State Fullerton by a 108-58 margin on Dec. 27, 1995…the Utes, who joined the Pac-12 Conference a year ago, were selected to finish 12th in the conference's media poll prior to the season…Sacramento State and Utah will be facing each other for the second time ever…in their lone meeting, the Utes defeated the Hornets, 74-45, at the Huntsman Center on Dec. 3, 1992 (box score on page 9)…in that game, Sacramento State shot just 27.8 percent from the field while Utah shot 50.9 percent and had five players score in double figures…Friday's contest will be televised live on the Pac-12 Network, which is carried locally by both Comcast and the Dish Network…the game can be heard on the internet at www.hornetsports.com with 16th year play-by-play announcer Steve McElroy calling all the action...live stats for the game are also available via www.utahutes.com…Friday's game is the second leg of a stretch that will see Sacramento State play three times in seven days.
