MEN'S BASKETBALL HOSTS EASTERN WASHINGTON ON THURSDAY

Sacramento State (10-10, 5-7) will play the second leg of its season-long three-game homestand on Thursday when the team welcomes Eastern Washington (6-16, 4-8) to the Nest…tip-off is 7:05 p.m…the Hornets are in the middle of a stretch that will see the team play three home games over a six-day span…though the Hornets are 5-7 in Big Sky Conference play, the team could just as easily be 8-4 as it has lost three one-point games against league opposition…that includes Monday night's 62-61 loss to Northern Arizona that saw the Hornets squander a 14-point lead with 11:17 remaining in the game…that loss snapped a three-game home winning streak, and the Hornets are now 7-3 inside the friendly confines this year…Sacramento State has blown double-digit halftime leads in each of its last two games against Southern Utah (13 points) and Northern Arizona (10 points)…since senior center Konner Veteto suffered a knee injury early in the game against Southern Utah, the Hornets have been outrebounded, 62-42, spanning the last 34 minutes of that game, and all of the NAU contest…Veteto tried to play against NAU, but had no points and no rebounds in 14 minutes with the injury…Sacramento State had been the top rebounding team in the conference just three games ago…the Hornets' 10 victories matches the program's highest win total since the team won 15 games in 2005-06, and ties for the most during the Brian Katz era (2008-pres.)…with one more conference win, Sacramento State will have its most league victories (6) since winning eight during the 2004-05 season…Eastern Washington is 0-10 on the road this season, including 0-5 against league foes…the Hornets beat the Eagles in Cheney earlier this year (60-53), but are still just 11-26 all-time against Eastern Washington…however, the Hornets are 10-6 when playing the Eagles at home, and have won four of the last six matchups overall in the series…like every conference game, Thursday's contest can be seen live and free on Big Sky TV…the game can also be heard on the internet at www.hornetsports.com with 16th year play-by-play announcer Steve McElroy calling all the action…live stats of the game can be found on www.hornetsports.com.
