Flagstaff, AZ (Sports Network) - Jimmy White scored 19 points, leading five
players in double figures, and pulled down 11 rebounds in leading the
Sacramento State Hornets to an 85-81 double-overtime win over the Northern
Arizona Lumberjacks in Big Sky Conference action at Walkup Skydome.
The win put an end to Sacramento's (6-8, 1-1 Big Sky) 48-game road losing skid
against league foes and was the second victory in the last three games overall
for the Hornets.
The loss was the second in a row for the Lumberjacks (9-5, 0-1).
Derek Lambeth dropped in 15 points, Rashaad Hooks 14, while DeShawn Freeman
and Emir Medunjanin contributed 13 and 11 points, respectively, in the win for
the Hornets.
Northern Arizona was led by Ryan McDade who had game highs with 27 points and
13 rebounds in the losing effort. Kelly Golob chipped in 18 points, Kodiak
Yazzie 16 and Aaron Bond 11 points for the Lumberjacks.
Northern Arizona bolted out to a double-digit lead in the first half, but
watched the Hornets battle back to within three points at the break, 35-32.
In the second half Sacramento State close until the final moments when they
tied the contest at 69-69 and sent it into the first overtime.
Neither team managed to pull away in the extra session, giving the Hornets
another opportunity to win after taking the game to a second overtime at
75-75.
