Sacramento, CA (Sports Network) - Anthony Lackey exploded for 30 points to
propel the Portland State Vikings to a 74-67 victory over the Sacramento State
Hornets in a Big Sky Conference tilt from Hornet Gym. Portland State (12-15,
6-8 Big Sky) picked up its fourth straight win, while Sacramento was sent to
its fifth consecutive defeat.
Lackey shot 11-of-19 from the field and completed a double-double performance
by grabbing a game-high 12 rebounds. Jeb Ivey added 14 points, while Billy
Feeney chipped in 11.
Rene Jacques scored 16 points to pace Sacramento State (9-19, 3-11) in the
loss. Also contributing double figures for the Hornets were Jay Richardson and
Joel Jones with 14 and 13 points, respectively.
Sacramento State built a 16-12 lead midway through the first half, but
Portland State caught up with the Hornets and forced a 39-39 tie at the break.
The Vikings scored first in the second half and never relinquished the lead.
Sacramento State pulled to within one point at 65-64 with just under six
minutes remaining, but Portland State outscored the Hornets 9-3 down the
stretch.
