2011-12 Season
Played in all 28 games, including 27 starts as the team’s point guard as a true freshman…finished seventh in the nation with 6.9 assists per game to go along with a 2.3-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio (36th in the nation)…named the Big Sky Conference Freshman of the Year, becoming the third Hornet to earn the award since the program joining the league in 1996-97…also named honorable mention all-conference…named to the collegeinsider.com Mid-Major Freshmen All-America Team…posted averages of 8.1 points, 2.3 rebounds, 6.9 assists and 0.9 steals in 33.8 minutes per game…easily led the Big Sky in assists, and was the only freshman in the nation to rank among the top 25 players in assists per game…assisted on over 29 percent of the Hornets’ made buckets, had at least 12 assists on five occasions and posted four double-doubles (points and assists)…had a 16-assist performance against Montana State that not only set a school record, but tied for the most by any Div. I player during the season…the four double-doubles tied for the seventh best mark in Sacramento State’s Div. I history (1991-pres.)…his average of 6.9 assists per game matched a single-season school record, and his 193 total assists were the second best mark in school history and the most by a Big Sky player since the 2005-06 season…among Big Sky leaders, he finished first in assists and assist-to-turnover ratio, fourth in free throw percentage (.818) and eighth in minutes per game…after scoring in double figures just once during the team’s first 16 games, Garrity posted double digits eight times over the final 12 games while averaging 10.7 points over that span…that included a stretch of five straight games in which he scored in double figures (Jan. 26-Feb. 9)…his season high of 18 points came against both Montana State and Portland State… led the team in assists in all but one game…his 26 steals were a team high, and he shot a team-best 84.4 percent (38-45) from the free throw line during the final five minutes of games…against Big Sky competition, Garrity averaged 9.1 points and 6.6 assists per game while shooting 47.9 percent (45-94) from the field, 38.5 percent (15-39) from the three-point line and 82.0 percent (41-50) from the free throw line.

High School
A 2011 graduate of Edison High School in Huntington Beach, Calif…played four years of varsity basketball for the Chargers…a two-time all-state, two-time Sunset League MVP, three-time first team all-section, three-time first team all-league, three-time all-county and three-year team captain…became the first player to have his jersey retired in the 42-year history of the Edison High School boys basketball program…finished as the school’s all-time leader in games (114), points (1,729) and assists (438)…averaged at least 17 points a game each of his final three seasons…finished with career averages of 15.2 points, 3.9 assists, 3.1 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game while shooting 48.8 percent (556-1139) from the field, 44.0 percent (211-480) from the three-point line and 84.1 percent (406-483) from the free throw line…Edison’s overall record improved all four years of Garrity’s tenure, culminating in a 26-3 overall record, an 8-2 league mark, a Sunset League championship and a CIF Div. II Southern Section quarterfinal appearance in 2010-11…during that senior season, Garrity led the league in scoring at 20.6 points per game while also averaging 3.7 assists, 3.7 rebounds and 1.8 steals per game…shot 53.0 percent (202-381) from the field, 45.5 percent (76-167) from the three-point line and 82.9 percent (116-140) from the free throw line…averaged 23 points during the 2011 section playoffs, including a 25-point effort in a season-ending loss to Compton in the quarterfinals…scored in double figures in all but one game during the season, including 17 games with at least 20 points…shot at least 47.0 percent from the field and 42.5 percent from the three-point line during each of his final three seasons while averaging 17.4 points per game as a junior and 17.8 points as a sophomore…won a CIF Southern Section skills challenge as a senior, beating out other participants who were nominated as MVP of their respective leagues.

Personal
Parents are Mike and Kim Garrity…an undeclared major…currently has four cousins playing collegiate soccer, including Washington State’s Megan Garrity.
