MEN'S HOOPS GETS SET FOR SATURDAY'S BRACKETBUSTERS MATCHUP AT SOUTHEAST MISSOURI

Winners of four of the last six games, Sacramento State (7-17) will travel to Cape Girardeau, Mo., for the first time ever to take on Southeast Missouri (8-19) on Saturday, Feb. 19…tip-off at the Show Me Center is scheduled for 5:35 p.m. PST, as the game is the second part of a doubleheader that will see Southeast Missouri’s women’s team face Tennessee-Martin in the opener…the Hornets and Redhawks are playing as part of the ninth-annual ESPN BracketBusters event which pits potential NCAA Tournament hopefuls against each other Feb. 18-20…114 teams from 13 conferences were selected to participate in BracketBusters, the largest pool in the event’s history…all nine Big Sky Conference teams are participating…this year marks the first time Sacramento State has ever played in BracketBusters…after beginning the season 3-15, the Hornets have won four of six, and just snapped a 15-game road losing streak that dated back to last season with Sunday’s 74-71 victory at Montana State…in fact, should Sacramento State defeat Southeast Missouri, it would mark the program’s first road winning streak since the 2005-06 season (wins over Idaho State and Weber State on Jan. 12 and 14, respectively)…in Sunday’s win at Montana State, Sacramento State shot 54.5 percent from the field (third best output of the season), including a blistering 77.8 percent (14-for-18) in the second half…one of the big reasons for the team’s 4-2 surge has been a healthy rebounding average (+6.0 per game) over the opposition, which includes an average of 14.3 offensive rebounds per contest…Southeast Missouri, a member of the Ohio Valley Conference, picked up arguably its biggest win of the season in a 64-57 home victory over first-place Murray State on Wednesday night…the Redhawks are 4-8 at home and the Murray State win snapped a four-game home losing streak…Sacramento State and Southeast Missouri have never faced each other…a free webcast of the game is being offered by www.kfvs12.com…the game can be heard live locally on KRJY 1240 AM, and on the internet at www.hornetsports.com with play-by-play announcer Steve McElroy calling the action…live stats will be offered at www.gosoutheast.com.
