MEN’S BASKETBALL TO TAKE ON SOUTHEAST MISSOURI STATE IN ESPN BRACKETBUSTERS GAME
1/31/2011
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The Big Sky Conference announced today that Sacramento State will travel to Cape Girardeau, Mo., to take on Southeast Missouri State on Saturday, Feb. 19, in the ninth-annual ESPN BracketBusters. Game time has yet to be established and will be released as soon as it is set.
Sacramento State is making its first-ever BracketBusters appearance as all nine teams in the Big Sky will take part in the event. In fact, 114 teams from 13 conferences were selected to participate in the BracketBusters, the largest pool in the event’s history.
Winners of two of the last three games, Sacramento State is currently 5-16 overall and 2-8 in the Big Sky. The Hornets host Portland State this Thursday and play road games at Montana and Montana State before the BracketBusters game.
Southeast Missouri State, a member of the Ohio Valley Conference, is currently 5-17 overall and 4-8 in the conference. The Hornets and Redhawks will be facing each other for the first time ever.
Southeast Missouri State will play the Hornets in Sacramento next season or 2012-13 as part of the agreement.

The BracketBusters concept, named because of the success of teams from these conferences in NCAA Tournament play through the years, provides participating programs with an opportunity to play top non-conference opponents about three weeks before Selection Sunday. Each conference selected its participating teams before the season, and the matchups for the event were determined by ESPN in conjunction with the conferences.
