MEN'S HOOPS PLAYS SEASON FINALE TONIGHT AT HOME AGAINST NORTHERN COLORADO

GAME PREVIEW

Sacramento State (9-20, 3-12) will play its final game of the 2009-10 season when the team hosts Northern Colorado (23-6, 11-4) on Saturday night at 7:05 p.m...Saturday will mark the second game of a back-to-back that saw the Hornets fall at home to Northern Arizona (73-59) on Friday night...seven Hornet seniors will see their collegiate careers come to an end Saturday night as Domineek DanielJustin EllerAntonio FlaggsJonathan MalloyMike MarcialMichael Selling and Jared Stigall will each be honored prior to the game for their contributions to the program...Sacramento State did not qualify for this year’s Big Sky Conference Tournament as the top six teams in the nine-member league reach the postseason event...while the Hornets will be playing Saturday night for pride, Northern Colorado is in a much better situation...with a win Saturday night, the Bears will earn the No. 2 seed and have a first-round bye in next weekend’s Big Sky Tournament....if Northern Colorado loses and Montana defeats Montana State in Missoula Saturday night, the Bears would slip to the No. 3 seed and be forced to play in the first round...the Hornets have lost four straight and 10 of the last 12 games heading into Saturday night’s game...still, Sacramento State’s nine victories are seven more than all of last season (2-27)...the Hornets are 5-7 at home this year, and three of those losses have come by five points or less...with a win, the Hornets would hit double figures in victories for the first time since the 2006-07 squad went 10-19...if Sacramento State’s John Dickson scores 14 points or more Saturday night, he will become just the third Hornet true freshman to average double figures in points since the program joined the Div. I ranks in 1991-92...including a 79-65 win earlier this season in Greeley, Northern Colorado is 5-2 all-time against the Hornets, and 2-1 when playing in Sacramento...Saturday nights’s game can be heard live locally on KRJY 1240 AM, and on the internet via www.hornetsports.com with 13th year play-by-play announcer Steve McElroy calling all the action...live video of the game is available and free at www.bigskytv.org, and live stats will be offered at www.hornetsports.com.
