MEN'S HOOPS PLAYS FINAL NON-CONFERENCE GAME SATURDAY AT SEATTLE

GAME PREVIEW

With just five games remaining in the regular season, Sacramento State (9-16) plays its final non-conference contest this Saturday, Feb. 13, when the team travels north to face Seattle University (11-13)...tip at KeyArena is 1:05 p.m...these same two teams met earlier this year in Sacramento (Jan. 9) with the Hornets prevailing, 80-67...in that game, a Div. I era (1991-pres.) school-record six Sacramento State players scored in double figures, led by Duro Bjegovic and Antonio Flaggs who both dropped in 16 points...the Hornets shot a blistering 65.4 percent (17-26) in the second half while outscoring the Redhawks, 52-35, after intermission...the 80 points were the second most scored by the Hornets this season, and the most against a Div. I team...Sacramento State enters Saturday’s game having won two of its last three games, including Sunday’s conference win over Eastern Washington, 74-67...the Hornets’ nine victories are already seven more than the team posted all of last season (2-27)...in addition, the team is 4-10 away from home (3-9 on the road, 1-1 at neutral sites) after combining to go 2-45 outside of Sacramento the previous three seasons...in the Hornets’ last road game (Jan. 30), the Hornets traveled to Pocatello and knocked off conference rival Idaho State in convincing fashion (72-55)...Seattle is riding a two-game winning streak with both of those victories coming against Big Sky Conference schools, including a home win over Eastern Washington (68-62) and a road victory at Portland State (80-77)...the win at Portland State featured Aaron Broussard burying a three-pointer with 0.5 seconds remaining...the loss for Portland State was just its second home defeat of the season...the Redhawks used a full-court trapping press that forced Portland State into 24 turnovers in the game...Seattle is 6-3 at home, including wins against Fresno State (85-84) and Weber State (91-87)...Saturday’s game can be heard live locally on KRJY 1240 AM, and on the internet via www.hornetsports.com with 13th year play-by-play announcer Steve McElroy calling all the action...live stats will be offered at www.goseattleu.com...live video stream of the game will not be offered.
