MEN'S HOOPS WELCOMES EASTERN WASHINGTON TO THE NEST SUNDAY AT 1 P.M.

Sacramento State (8-16, 2-9) will play its second home game in three days when the team welcomes Eastern Washington (6-17, 2-7) to the Nest on Sunday, Feb. 7, for a 1:05 p.m. tip...on Friday night, Portland State dominated Sacramento State on the boards and outscored the Hornets in the second half, 48-31, on the way to a 76-62 victory inside the Nest...the loss marked just the second time all season the Hornets had been defeated by more than five points at home...overall, Sacramento State is 4-6 on its home floor, but has lost its last three straight inside the friendly confines, including a pair of close losses to Montana (57-56) and Montana State (58-53)...Friday night’s loss dealt the Hornets a serious blow to their Big Sky Tournament aspirations...the top six teams in the nine-member league reach the conference’s postseason event and Sacramento State is now 3.5 games back of the sixth spot with just five league games remaining on the schedule...overall, Sacramento State has six games remaining on the schedule, including a non-conference tilt at Seattle next weekend (Saturday, Feb. 13)...Eastern Washington has lost six straight, but four of those losses have come by six points or less...similar to the Hornets, the Eagles’ overall record is a bit deceiving as many of their losses have been close....in fact, Sacramento State is 3-6 in games decided by five points or less this season while Eastern Washington is 4-8 in games decided by six points or less...the Eagles are 2-12 away from home (2-10 on the road; 0-2 at neutral sites), but did beat third-place Montana State in Bozeman, 75-73, on Jan. 10...Eastern Washington is 24-7 all-time against Sacramento State, including a 79-75 victory in Cheney earlier this season (box score on last page of the notes)...that includes an eight-game winning streak against Sacramento State dating back to the Hornets’ last win in the series at home on Jan. 7, 2006 (an 88-69 victory)...the Hornets are 6-9 against the Eagles in Sacramento...Sunday’s game can be heard live locally on KRJY 1240 AM, and on the internet via www.hornetsports.com with 13th year play-by-play announcer Steve McElroy calling all the action...live video of the game is available and free via www.bigskytv.org, and live stats will be offered at www.hornetsports.com.
