MEN'S BASKETBALL CONTINUES ROAD TRIP FRIDAY NIGHT AT WEBER STATE

GAME PREVIEW

At the midway point of the Big Sky Conference season, Sacramento State (7-14, 1-7) resumes its season-long four-game road trip on Friday, Jan. 29 when the team travels to Ogden for a matchup with Weber State (13-7, 7-1) at 6:05 p.m. PST...the contest is the first of back-to-back games over two nights that will see the Hornets travel to Pocatello for a game at Idaho State on Saturday night...Sacramento State has dropped a season-high four straight and seven of its last eight games, including a 75-71 loss at Northern Arizona on Sunday afternoon...however, over that eight-game stretch, five of those losses have come by five points or less...the Hornets have now played nine games this year that have been decided by five points or less (3-6 in those contests) after playing just one that was decided by less than seven points during the entire 2008-09 season...Sacramento State is 3-9 away from home this year (2-8 on the road, 1-1 at neutral sites) after combining to go 2-45 outside of Sacramento the previous three seasons...Sacramento State will be looking to get a big monkey off its back as the team has dropped 26 straight Big Sky road games dating back to Dec. 30, 2006, a 74-70 win at Northern Colorado...Weber State, which is the defending Big Sky regular season champions, is currently all alone in first place in the conference standings, one game ahead of both Northern Colorado and Montana State...the Wildcats have won four straight and six of the last seven games...Weber State is 8-1 on its home floor, including home victories over Portland State (86-83) and Eastern Washington (89-67) last week...the Wildcats defeated the Hornets in Sacramento earlier this season, 80-65, in a game where neither team led by more than five points the first 30 minutes of the contest...Weber State used a 17-3 run late in the second half to pull away...the Wildcats are 28-4 all-time against Sacramento State in a series that dates back to the 1969-70 season...the Wildcats have won five straight in the series, and are 15-1 when playing the Hornets in Ogden...Friday night’s game can be heard live locally on KRJY 1240 AM, and on the internet via www.hornetsports.com with 13th year play-by-play announcer Steve McElroy calling all the action...live video of the game is available and free via www.bigskytv.org, and live stats will be offered at www.weberstatesports.com.
