CHENEY, Wash.--- Chris White scored 14 points and grabbed 14 rebounds
to lead Eastern Washington to a 67-57 win at Reese Court Wednesday
night in Cheney, Wash.
The win improved the Eagles to 10-7 overall and 5-2 in the Big Sky
Conference. Sacramento State dropped to 3-13 overall and 0-5 in
conference action.
The Hornets opened the game with a strong start and led, 21-12, with
6:37 left in the first half. EWU, however, rallied back ending the
period on a 16-4 run to lead, 28-25, at intermission.
Sacramento State pulled within one at the start of the second period
when Pablo Gonzales scored two of his team-high 18 points. Eastern
Washington then stretched the lead to six points five minutes into
the second half before the Hornets were able to tie the game, 37-37,
at the 13:39 mark.
The Eagles retook the lead after a pair of free throws but Gonzales,
once again, tied the game with a layup.
From that point, Eastern Washington turned to senior Aaron Olson who
made three three-pointers and helped the Eagles build a 60-48
advantage with just under five minutes left in the game.
Sacramento State made one last surge but could only come as close as
seven points.
Gonzales was joined in double-figures by seniors Rickie Glenn and
Rame Batta and junior Arinze Anoruo with 11-points each. Gonzales
also led the team with six rebounds.
Olson and center Jason Humbert scored 13 points each in the EWU win.
The Hornets continue their swing through the Pacific Northwest on
Friday when they take on Portland State. Game time is scheduled for 7
