TICKETS AVAILABLE FOR INAUGURAL MEN’S BASKETBALL HALL OF FAME INDUCTION & TIP-OFF BANQUET

10/2/2008

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- The inaugural Sacramento State Men’s Basketball Hall of Fame Induction and Tip-Off Banquet will take place on Thursday, Oct. 30, 2008, at 5:30 p.m. at the Alumni Center on the south end of campus. The social hour begins at 5:30 p.m., and the program starts at 6:30 p.m.

The night will feature the induction of all 11 players of the 1961-62 squad and the head coach Ev Shelton into the Sacramento State Men’s Basketball Hall of Fame. The 1961-62 team will become the first-ever class inducted into the program’s Hall of Fame.

The team finished as the College Division national runner-up after losing to Mount Saint Mary’s, 58-57, in the 1962 NCAA Tournament championship game in Evansville, Ind. Upon returning to Sacramento, the team was welcomed by more than 1,000 fans at the airport, and taken on a caravan through downtown Sacramento. A complete list of the players from the 1961-62 squad can be found below.

In addition, head coach Brian Katz will introduce all 16 members of this year’s Hornet squad and preview the season. Katz enters his first season as the team’s head coach after a successful 19-year junior college head coaching career that saw him compile a 435-185 record.

Tickets for the evening, which includes dinner, are $40 per person. To RSVP online, click here, or contact Linda Scott at (916) 278-6295 or scottl@csus.edu. Please RSVP no later than Oct. 22.
