SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Senior Harold Arceneaux, the Big Sky’s top
scorer, poured in 25 points to lead Weber State past Sacramento State,
88-72, Saturday night at Memorial Auditrium.
The win lifted the Wildcats to 15-8 overall and 7-5 in Big Sky games.
The Hornets dropped to 9-12 and 3-7 in conference action.
Arceneaux converted on 11-of-14 shots from the floor including a
three-pointer for his 25 points. The forward, however, did not need all
players as senior Anthony Flood paced Sacramento State with a game-high
26 points.
The Hornets led 2-0 and 4-2 before Weber State broke a 4-4 tie to take
the lead for good. The Wildcats shot an amazing .581 (18-for-31) in the
first half and were 6-of-9 from three-point land in the period. For the
game, WSU was 32-of-56 (.571) from the floor and 9-of-17 (.529) from
three.
Weber built a 45-36 lead at halftime but had it cut to six, 45-39, when
Flood hit a layup and a free throw to start the second half. From that
point, the Wildcats quickly built the lead back to 10 points and cruised
the rest of the way.
Ivan Gatto and Damon King each scored 12 points for WSU. Senior guard
Eddie Gill also added 13 assists in the win.
Flood was joined in double-figures by junior Rame Batta. The guard was
8-for-13 and ended the night with 17 points.
Sacramento State will take to the road this week to play at Portland
State on Thursday and at Eastern Washington. Both games will be aired on
KTKZ 1380 AM.
