POCATELLO, Idaho -- Four Idaho State players scored in double-figures to lead the Bengals to a 72-61 victory over Sacramento State Saturday night at Holt Arena.
The win ended ISU’s eight-game losing streak and gave the team a 6-13 overall mark and 1-7 record in the Big Sky Conference. The Hornets dropped to 8-9 overall and 2-4 in league games. The loss also marked the first time this season that the squad has been below .500 and gave the team its 26th-straight conference road loss.
Idaho State led by 10, 39-29, at the half and outscored Sacramento State, 33-32, in the second half.
The Bengals shot .429 for the game while holding the Hornets to .348.
Senior guard Kevin Sweetwyne led ISU with 15 points. Ammer Johnson and Doug Silva each added 14 and guard Stephen Brown contributed 12.
Sacramento State was paced by junior Ricky Glenn. The forward, who started for the first time this season, was 7-for-12 from the floor and ended the evening with 19 points and nine rebounds.
Sophomore Arinze Anoruo added a career-high 14 points and pulled in seven rebounds. Senior Anthony Flood also broke double-figures for the 12th time this season with 13 points and seven boards.
The Hornet backcourt struggled as the trio of Jim Brewer, Jr., Rene Jacques and Rame Batta combined for 3-for-24 from the floor and 1-for-11 from behind the three-point arch.
Sacramento State will continue on the road next week as it faces Montana on Thursday and Montana State on Friday.
