FLOOD LEADS HORNETS TO COME-FROM-BEHIND WIN

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Senior Anthony led all players with 24 points and sparked California State University, Sacramento to a dramatic 65-62 Big Sky victory over Northern Arizona Tuesday at Memorial Auditorium.

With the win, Sacramento State improved to 7-5 overall and 1-0 in the Big Sky. The victory was the second straight for the team and ties the Div. I-era record for wins in a season. Norther Arizona fell to 6-6 overall and 0-1 in conference games.

The Lumberjacks dominated the first half and led 31-19 at the half. During the first period, NAU held the Hornets to a dismal .214 shooting percentage and outrebounded the team, 22-17.

After falling behind, 37-21, with 18:24 left in the game, Sacramento State began to claw its way back. Flood scored 21 of his 24 points in the second period and sophomore Rene Jacques added 12 of his 16 in the final 20 minutes to lead the team.

Cory Schwab paced Northern Arizona with 15 points and Chico, Calif., native Ross Land contributed 14.

Sacramento State will next travel to Ogden, Utah to face defending Big Sky champion Weber State on Saturday. The game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. MT. The team’s next home contest will be on Jan. 20 against Eastern Washington.
