HOLTZ FINISHES FIRST, WOMEN WIN DOC ADAMS INVITATIONAL

DAVIS, Calif. —Kristina Holtz finished first to help lead the Sacramento State women's cross country team to the team title at the Doc Adams Invitational, Saturday morning at UC Davis.
Holtz ran 21:49.3 over the 6K course to win the even by just under three seconds. She was one of two Hornets to finish among the top 10 and one of four who placed in the top 15 in the race. Mary O'Reilly ranked second on the team and was ninth overall in 22:37.4.
Ashley Chavez ran 22:51.0 to place 11th and freshman Danzel Bradshaw was 15th in 23:19.2. The team was also counted the time by Athena Gillen who ran 24:01.5 to place 19th.
The Hornet men also competed in the meet but had just three individuals in the race. Steve Casado recorded the top time in 27:05.5 to place 24th. Cameron Mitchell was 28th in 27:24.1 and Matt Case finished 30th in 27:46.7.
Sacramento State will next compete at the WAC Preview meet hosted by Nevada on Sat., Oct. 10.
