A walk-on to the team during the spring, Gaughen could be a starter for the Hornets during the fall…one of several members to transfer from Grossmont JC.
Junior College: Spent two seasons at Grossmont JC in El Cajon, Calif…named first team All-America by JC Athletic Bureau…also named all-state and first team all-league…was a starter on the offensive line…helped the team post a 13-1 overall record in 2005…defeated City College of San Francisco, 41-38, to win the California State Championship…also finished first in the J.C. Grid-Wire rankings…team went 8-0 en route to a Foothill Conference title…was named to the National Football Foundation’s Academic Hall of Fame following his sophomore season…attended Menlo College in 2002 and San Mateo JC in 2003 but did not play at either school.
High School: A 2002 graduate of Kealakehe High School in Kailua Kona, Hawaii…competed in football, wrestling, baseball and track…played three years of varsity football…was named to the all-island team as a senior…advanced to the state finals in wrestling as a heavyweight.
