A former walk-on, Brannon played significantly at linebacker and on special teams…coaches believe he will contend for a starting job at linebacker during the fall…is the older brother of Hornet linebacker Mike Brannon.
2006 Season: Played in all 11 games at linebacker and on special teams during his first season…finished the year with 14 total tackles…recorded three stops at Montana and against Weber State for his season high…had a sack for a 9-yard loss at Northern Arizona…tallied two solo stops at Idaho State and at UC Davis.
Junior College: Played two years at American River JC in Sacramento…was named all-Mid-Empire Conference as a linebacker following his sophomore season…helped lead the Beavers to a 10-1 overall record and berth into the Capital Shrine Game…team’s only loss came against Laney JC, 20-17, in that bowl game…had 105 tackles as a sophomore.
High School: Graduated from Cordova High School in 2002…competed in football and track and field for the Lancers…named all-league in football following his junior and senior seasons…recorded 141 tackles as a senior…helped guide Cordova to two Sac-Joaquin Section playoff appearances.
Personal: Born 8-12-84…majoring in economics…parents are Johnnie and Monica Brannon.
