A fixture in the secondary, Webber has already started 19 games in his first two collegiate seasons…set career marks for tackles and interceptions last year…enters the season as the scheduled starter at strong safety.
2005 Season: Named honorable mention all-Big Sky for the second consecutive season…also earned Big Sky all-academic honors…named co-Outstanding DB/LB on the team…shared the honor with Brett Shelton…started all 11 games at strong safety…finished third on the team with 64 total tackles (33 solo, 31 assisted)…also had 2.0 tackles-for-loss, including a sack, two interceptions and four pass breakups…had at least three tackles in 10 of the 11 games…tallied 10 tackles at both Portland State and Weber State…against the Vikings, he had a career-high eight solo stops…also returned an interception 38 yards…intercepted a pass and returned it 32 yards for a touchdown in the win over Northern Arizona…the score was his first via interception and his second (fumble return) as a Hornet…had nine tackles against Eastern Washington and eight stops vs. Idaho State.
2004 Season: Earned honorable mention Freshman All-America and Big Sky honors…appeared in 10 games, starting eight as a true freshman…tallied 56 total tackles (25 solo)…opened his career with 11 tackles at Nevada…matched that total at Eastern Washington…recorded four tackles-for-loss during the season, including a sack against Montana State…returned a fumble 35-yards for a touchdown against Idaho State…credited with two pass breakups in the victory over Montana State.
High School: Graduated from Sanger High School in 2004…was the only offensive player to be named to both the 2002 and 2003 Fresno Bee All-Star team…named honorable mention all-state by Cal-Hi…voted the area Player of the Year by TV 47 and was named to the station’s all-valley team as both a junior and senior…was named the area player of the week three times as a senior…led the Apaches to the Yosemite Division Small School title as both a junior and a senior…listed as one of the top recruits by Rivals.com…was the starting running back and safety…ended the 2003 regular season with 773 rushing yards…top rushing game was 251 yards against Mt. Whitney HS…had four games with over 100 rushing yards…holds the school’s career record with 3,429 rushing yards and 51 touchdowns…also holds the school record with seven rushing touchdowns in one game…that mark is the second-best in section history…recorded 109 total tackles and eight interceptions in his junior and senior seasons combined…graduated from the same high school as former Oakland Raiders head coach Tom Flores.
Personal: Born 7-24-85…a business major…also recruited by Cal Poly, UC Davis and Fresno State…parents are Michael and Renell Webber.
